I have a safeguarding concern that I would usually discuss with school. What can I do?
You can contact the school’s Safeguarding Team by email on safeguarding@heathland.harrow.sch.uk and Miss Lee, the Designated Safeguarding Lead, will contact you to discuss and offer support.

You can also call the school on 020 8422 4503 and ask to speak to Miss Lee.

Should you have an emergency, you should contact Children’s Services direct on 020 8901 2690 to discuss with a social worker.

The Safeguarding Team will be in contact with Children’s Services and will continue to support your child if such support is already in place and is required.

Collecting Children from School

The school never releases a pupil into the care of another person who is not a named emergency contact without the consent of their parents.

Children must be collected by someone over the age of 16 years. If staff are unsure of a young person’s age, they will ask for proof before sending the child home.

If someone different is collecting your child:

Please inform the class teacher beforehand preferably in writing. We will not send a child home with someone else even if they are known to the staff member/school unless this has been communicated to the class teacher first.
When informing the class teacher, parents should indicate if this is an on-going arrangement or a one-off situation. If the arrangement is likely to be frequent, the information will be added to the child’s record so that all staff can be made aware of the arrangement and the school will not be required to be informed on every occasion.
If a message is given to a member of the admin team during the school day, it may not be possible for the message to be given to the class teacher before it is time to go home. In these circumstances, class teachers will bring the child and the person collecting them to the school office (once all the other children have been dismissed) for verification.
In an emergency, verbal consent may be given for an agreed person to take their child home.
Any parent who would like a person under 16 years old to collect their child must put in a written request to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Claire Lee safeguarding@heathland.harrow.sch.uk
